75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship

The 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the inaugural race of the Formula 1 World Championship. In this, its 75th anniversary year, the Club Concours will host a clutch of significant cars attesting to its importance and indeed Britain’s huge and continuing contribution to F1 racing. An F1 timeline, including a sprinkling of GP cars, and the famous Royal Automobile Club Trophy (awarded to the winner of the British Grand Prix) will both feature.

125 years of The 1000 Mile Trial

Getting there – and back – was a huge deal for the car world of 1900 and there was no sterner test of durability than the Club’s north-south strength and reliability test. For manufacturers it was a chance to demonstrate the quality of their cars, and they jumped on it. Expect to see some of the pioneer vehicles that dared to take part and others very similar to those that tested their mettle over 1,000 demanding miles. Of the 65 cars which started, by Edinburgh 51 were still running and 35 made it back to London.

120 years of the Tourist Trophy

This fabulous trophy, with its sculptural representation of the Greek god Hermes in 18-carat gold, has been in the gift of the Club since 1905. It is the oldest motoring trophy in the world and the most continuously awarded. At the Concours we will salute its place in motorsport with a line-up of winners representing its tremendous span through history, from chain-drive to hybrid power.

75 years of British Motoring

The year 1950 was a stellar one for the British motor industry. The Jaguar Mk VII and Aston Martin DB2 whetted everyone’s appetite, Rover entered the jet-car age with the JET 1, BRM designed an incredible V16-powered F1 car and the magazine Autosport was published for the first time. Relive that epic year at the Club Concours with a breathtaking display of important cars.

75 years of BRM

In an era long before McLaren, Williams, Tyrrell and Cosworth came to dominate, plucky British Racing Motors did much to give the nation a Formula 1 hero car. It brought GP wins for Jackie Stewart and the 1962 World Championship for Graham Hill whose car, the Club is delighted to reveal, will be displayed at the Concours, along with other fantastic world-beating BRMs.

Supercar Boulevard

Our unique Members’ Supercar Boulevard will line the dramatic approach to the Club Concours along both sides of The Captain’s Drive. The cars on display will, we anticipate, range from a Valkyrie to a Zonda, a Ferrari SP1 to a McLaren P1; if it’s a Jaguar, then it’s an XJ220; if it’s a Porsche, then a 918; if a Maserati, then an MC20.
